Artist-Professor Betty Shelton has taught at the Laguna College of Art & Design since 1995, and is the Director of the European Summer Program. She received her BA, MA and MFA from California State Universities at Long Beach and Fullerton.

The recurring theme in her art is the timeless expression of the desire to transcend the human condition. "Iím drawn to this eternal struggle as it occurs in each subject I paint. By connecting my visions to universal myths and symbols, I wish the viewer to see my paintings as a reflection of their own personal history within the human drama across the ages."

Her work is exhibited widely in the United States, and she has held many gallery exhibitions in California, Arizona, Texas, and Colorado.
