Robert Lebsack grew up in Southern California. He studied art at California State University, Long Beach, receiving his B.F.A. in Illustration. During his time at CSULB, he had the opportunity to study with the well regarded Long Beach artist Joseph Giri. Lebsack currently works on both private and public projects, and has completed commissions for neighborhood organizations in the Long Beach area.

Lebsack’s work frequently comments on social and political issues. He states, “My work focuses on the events that shape our lives and their effects on America’s collective mental state. Violence, racism, apathy, war, injustice, and tragedy. I am interested in illustrating the dark side of the human condition, often using the figure itself to create the context of the times in which we live.”
