Leandra Hinrichs was born near Chicago, Illinois. She received a scolarship to study painting, drawing and graphic design at Eastern Illinois University. She later attended Loyola Marymount University where she studied drawing. Hinrichs predominantly works with acrylic on canvas. Her paintings are infused with elements of photo-realism, surrealism, and psychedelia. She is particularly interested in conveying the complex interplay between shadow and light.
