Christine Conley is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but now resides and works in Memphis, Tennessee. She has shown her tromp l’oeil paintings in group exhibitions throughout Tennessee and the Southeast. She works primarily with oil paint on polystyrene. The effect is quite beautiful and engaging. Commenting on her art, she states, “At first people take the work for anatomical drawings or paintings of vegetation, but on closer look there is a moment of confusion and uncertainty. . . . The ability to cause that moment of reflection and uncertainty is to me one of the most enjoyable things about this work.”
