Jonathan Burke is a fine arts professor at Laguna College of Art and Design. He received his M.F.A. from Boston University, and his B.A. from California State University, Fullerton.

As a representational painter himself, Burke is interested in applying traditional techniques to modern realism by carefully observing nature and describing its unique characteristics. He also wishes to document the time in which he lives, to comment on contemporary culture, and to bring aesthetic pleasure to himself and to others. By choosing to paint images from nature he communicates his feelings about the world, society and art.
